Friday 24 October 2014--We are in no hurry this morning--our flight to Iceland is in the afternoon. We have a late breakfast and get to the airport plenty early. The Sanderling, the J D Wetherspoon pub in the airport, provides us with lunch and our last pints of Deuchars.

Saturday 24 October 1998--I headed south from the Crask, then northwest toward the coast. When I reached Laxford Bridge, it was only a five-mile backtrack to the Rhiconich Hotel, where I'd left my toothpaste and toothbrush the day before. Bonehead. I also took a few minutes today to mail my room key back to Kirkwall, having found it in my pocket this morning. Double bonehead. I wonder what else I'm missing, or carrying around that I'm not supposed to be.

The Flybus takes us from Keflavik to the bus terminal in Reykjavik, and a van delivers us to our guesthouse. It's early evening now; we go for a pint at Microbar, eat at Nora Magasin, and finish the evening at Dillon Whiskey Bar. Ron hasn't been in Reykjavik in many years, and he is impressed, as I was last year, at the range of beers now available. It isn't enormous by any means, but it's light years ahead of what there was a decade ago.
