Friday, 17 October 2008 I've planned two possibilities for today. One is to make the trip to Applecross; the other is to do
pretty much nothing. I opt for the latter. A down day halfway through the trip has felt like a pretty good idea the past couple of years,
restorative of body and spirit, and Plockton is the perfect place to do it. Spend much of the day in the lounge at the B&B, catching
up on email, forum follies, finances, and website work. Also help Teresa with some computer stuff (as if I'm the expert!). Late in the
afternoon, we have a blether over a glass of ice cider, from a bottle I bought in Quebec some months ago, and she tells me about Richard's
Dinner is in the Plockton Hotel, for a change, Talisker-laced paté and poached haddock. Then I retire to the Inn for pints. It's quiet early on, and I'm thinking I might pack it in early, but it turns out to be Quiz Night. I fall in with three English lads, and we place third out of nine. All of the British cultural questions are beyond me, but I give the team John Quincy Adams and Holly Hunter.
